ABOUT
Charles Maynes work as a professional in the world of audio design began in 1985. Nine years later he transitioned into the film sound business. Since then, he has been involved with two Academy Award Sound Editing Awards, won two Emmy Awards and four Golden Reel Awards.
Charles’ audio editing and design for film is influenced by various mentors including Stephen Hunter Flick, Warren Hamilton, Marvin Walowitz and David Yewdall.
Known as an efficient first-call sound effects recordist who specializes in firearms recording, Charles has experience recording over 40 weapons sessions for numerous AAA video games and films.
As an independent contractor, he has had the good fortune to work with clients across the globe as well as various industry luminaries, including Randy Thom, Richard King, Rob Sephton, Skip Lievsey, Jay Wilkinson, Steve Boedekker, Jon Johnson, Tom Bellfort, Ben Cook, Kami Asgar, John Larson, David Giammarco, Alan Murray, Ron Bochar, Swan McCormack and Gregg Baxter.
In addition to audio work, Charles enjoys historic research of world conflict, supporting NGO initiatives and spending time with his wife and children.
He lives in the Los Angeles, area but frequently travels to support client needs.
